Mzimba people hail water schemes rehab project
The government through the Ministry of Water and Sanitation rehabilitated the Champhira and Msaka water schemes in Mabulabo, Mzimba District.
K2bn Mzimba water project excites people
As part of the Resilience and Disaster Risk Management Project, the government built K2 billion worth of solar-powered water systems, giving residents in regions like Msaka and Champhira access to clean, safe water closer to where they live.
Parliament passes Lake Malawi Water Supply Loan Authorisation Amendment Bill
Parliament passed legislation No. 6 of 2024, which amends the loan authorization laws for NBS Bank Plc and National Bank of Malawi Plc (Lake Malawi Water Supply). The measure altered the prior authorization by Parliament of K105 billion, which now falls short of the government's $100 million equity commitment to the project due to the recent currency re-alignment.This will help the government reach its goal of supplying drinkable water to the Lilongwe, Salima, and Dowa districts.
Fund set to protect water sources
Water for People in partnership with the Blantyre Water Board have agreed to set up a fund for Blantyre and Mulanje which will see the areas receiving activities that will bring maximum benefits to the catchments and allow increase of water quantities and also improve water quality.
Pacific limited in patnership with the ministry of water and sanitation rehabilitates 7000 in 8 years
Ministry of water and sanitation has pledged continued coordination with Pacific limited to ensure that boreholes are repaired to improve access to clean potable water which has been a problem in most parts of the country.

Free Water Connection Programme in Mangochi Municipality
Ministry of Water and Sanitation has launched Free Water Connection Programme in Mangochi Municipality where Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) is expected to connect 250 customers within the municipality out of the many applications.
